Intern/Fellow in the Conservation Laboratory of the National Museum of American Art (then the National Collection of Fine Arts), Smithsonian Institution, Washington, D.C. under the supervision of Anton Konrad, Chief Conservator, 1973 - 1974.
Attended numerous classes and refresher courses including the McCrone's "Microscopy for Conservators" and Richard Wolber's "New Cleaning Techniques".

August 1974 - Present. Private conservator of paintings and decorative objects. Clients include numerous museums, historic houses, and private collectors in the region. Trading since May 1982 as "Richmond Conservation Studio", 1322 West Broad Street, Richmond, Va. 23220.
August 1976 - May 1982. Assistant Professor of Art History, School of the Arts, Virginia Commonwealth University, Richmond, Virginia. Responsible for the establishment and teaching of the undergraduate Pre-Conservation Curriculum and also responsible for the Conservation Laboratory, Anderson Gallery.

July 2009 - January 2010. Contract for conservation of The Portrait of King George III in Coronation Robes (ptd. ca. 1762), Studio of Allan Ramsay (Scotland and England, 1713-1784), full length portrait, 98" x 65", for the Jamestown-Yorktown Foundation, Williamsburg, Va.

Contract conservator for the State Library of Virginia, Richmond, Virginia, providing conservation treatment for the Portrait of Queen Elizabeth I in the Governor’s Mansion; The mural Storming a Redoubt by Eugene Louis Lami in and numerous portraits for the Virginia Supreme Court.
February 2000. Conservation of the Recumbent Statue of Robert E. Lee by Edward Valentine located at Washington & Lee, Lexington, Virginia.
